National Mission
Graham and Wanda Ashby
Thirty-five years ago, Orwell Street Church asked Graham and Wanda to become involved in itinerant evangelism in the South Island. Since then, their ministry has extended to cover all New Zealand as well as many trips to Australia and Northern Ireland. Speaking at many churches, camps, schools, dinners and community events the Gospel has always been preached. Their work has been far-reaching with communicating to thousands of children, teenagers, adults and seniors through a wide variety of opportunities. By God’s great grace, they have seen many come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
From 2004 on, Wanda was able to be more involved in Graham’s travelling ministry and together they developed a new outreach called Growing Great Relationships. This enabled them to teach valuable principles about marriage while sharing their own faith. Essentially it was an outreach tool that helped reach into communities to strengthen and encourage marriages.
Considering the global situation re: insecurities, fear, moral and spiritual decline with family breakdowns, they remain committed to the life-changing message of the Gospel. Hope, peace, forgiveness, grace, mercy and wholeness that comes from the Cross of Christ, is the best transformative message that still needs to be proclaimed. Thank you for believing and entrusting Graham and Wanda with the Gospel (1 Thess. 2:4,8). With the Lord’s strength, this continues to be their focus.
“We continue to be extremely grateful for the love, encouragement, and financial support which comes from Orwell Street Church, and from the various churches we work with.”
Graham and Wanda now live in Alexandra but remain in full-time ministry in association with Orwell Street. Health struggles are sometimes a challenge for Graham, we pray for Graham’s health and for his continuing ministry.

Pathway Trust - The Navigate Initiative
Pathway Trust was established in 1998 to meet the needs of the poor and disadvantaged within the Christchurch community and is closely associated with Riccarton Community Church. One of Pathway Trust’s programs is a Christchurch based prisoner reintegration program – supporting men wanting to move away from harmful choices and start over. With help from sponsors such as ourselves, in October 2018 Pathway Trust was able to introduce New Zealand’s first community-run reintegration unit, the Navigate Initiative. Orwell Street committed to support the program for 5 years which sees Pathway delivering workshops in four key areas: physical wellbeing, social wellbeing, spiritual wellbeing and mental wellbeing.
The results speak for themselves; men who work with Pathway are 43% less likely to be re-imprisoned after 12 months than men who do not.
